Social Group Day Care is not a perfect fit for every dog. It is essential for the safety of all that we accept only those dogs that are comfortable with the environment and each other, and compliant with staff. Each dog will therefore be required to join us for a half day induction session, which will be free.
During this session we will be able to introduce the dog gradually to the facility, the dogs and the staff; we will assess whether he/she will be comfortable with us and won't become stressed or anxious; conversely that he/she will not become over-aroused and a danger. Dogs that fall into either of these categories will not be accepted for daycare. Staff doing the assessments are experienced and competent in reading dog's body language; we would be doing a disservice to other clients to accept a dog that might become a danger to itself or others and therefore our decision is final. Reasons for such a decision will be given to the owner verbally at the end of the induction, and in writing as well on request.
No dog can be accepted for day care without a current vaccination certificate or titre test certificate showing that the dog has serological protection from canine parvovirus, canine adenovirus (also known as infectious canine hepatitis) and canine distemper virus. Vaccination against leptospirosis and kennel cough is also a requirement under the terms of our Licence and for the safety of all; there is no titre testing available for these last two as immune responses to the vaccines do not last longer than twelve months. Certificates will be photocopied and kept with the dog's record so we can ensure that annual renewals are completed.
We strongly recommend that all dogs that attend daycare are insured. During the day bumps and grazes can occur in spite of the best efforts of staff; all suitable care will be taken.
The owners of dogs attending daycare will be required to sign the Waiver of Liability form as detailed below on induction; this lasts for the lifetime of the dog when it attends day care at Totally Canine unless superceded.
The Day Care is designed to give dogs a fun, safe, appropriate and stimulating time whilst away from their homes during the business day. As such:
I hereby certify that my dog is in good health and has been treated for internal and external parasites, and has not to the best of my knowledge and belief been in contact with any contagious or infectious disease within the four weeks previous to this date. I further certify and agree that I will not bring my dog to attend day care for at least four weeks after I know or suspect that contact with any contagious or infectious disease has occurred, nor while my dog is actively suffering from any such disease, and that I will keep my dog regularly treated for internal and external parasites according to current veterinary advice.
I further certify that my dog has not harmed or shown aggressive or threatening behaviour towards any person or any other dog.
I have read and understand the following:
(NOTE: As part of our day to day running dogs are only shut away from each other when they are given a food treat such as a stuffed Kong or a brain game with treats in. We do not crate dogs as a rule otherewise. Our "pods" which are 2.5m x 1.5m count as crates for Licencing purposes, hence this permission requirement)
I certify that I have read and understand the policies of the Centre as given to me and that I have read and understand the conditions and statements of this agreement, including the following:
We would like to take photos of your dog during his/her time with us to use as promotional images, including uploading them to the Totally Canine website and FaceBook page:
This Agreement stands for each and every visit that my dog makes to Totally Canine now and in the future.
